> Hello Friends of Family Promise:
>
> There are currently 8 bills in the Wisconsin State legislature focusing on helping people experiencing homelessness that happen to be stuck in committee. The State Senate is holding a floor session on Tuesday, January 21. This is an opportunity to ask the senate to pass these eight bills. These bills would provide an additional $3.75 million toward addressing homelessness in Wisconsin.
>
> Can you help move these bills forward? You can do so by making a call to your State Senator and ask them to bring these 8 bills to the floor. It is best to speak in your own words and share with them your insights from being a part of Family Promise. There is no doubt that our elected officials track their calls and why people are calling. Your efforts could get the Senate to act on this legislation.
>
> The funds in these bills will go toward homelessness prevention, case management provide funds for shelters and hotel vouchers. A summary of each bill is attached. If you go to the State Senate website https://legis.wisconsin.gov/ you can read the text and history of each bill. This is also where you can determine who your state senator.
>
> One last note, if Senator Chris Kapenga is your State Senator please call him. He is a crucial member of the committee holding up the bill for case management SB 145. Family Promise is in his district. I have been told he is concerned about accountability and how organizations like Family Promise measure success. You can assure him from your experience that we welcome accountability and walk with families for as long as necessary after leaving Family Promise to ensure their success.
>
> Thank you for finding yet another way to support families who are experiencing homelessness.
