After receiving feedback from many church members, a group of us have gotten together to reinstate the open_mic list so that the congregation can have an easy way to communicate with themselves. The new list will work like the former one, just send email to an address and all members of the group will receive it. The new address is: lekooks@lekook.org To get off the list, just send email to listmaster@lekook.org. This list is moderated for who can be on it. Only church members can join it. It will be self-moderated for content. This is an informal list with no hard and fast rules (at this time). Always be respectful of others and use common sense when posting to the list. Typical uses might be announcing social events, requesting information or help, and offering items for sale. The posting of cute kittens and links to videos that might be of interest to like minded church members is allowed on this list. Excessively controversial or inflammatory statements should be avoided. Given the broad audience of the group, long email chains would be better sent to only the interested subset of the group. Announcements that are part of the functioning of the church proper such as Sunday service speakers, classes offered by the church, and church fundraisers should be sent out by our administrator on the official church mailing list. Everyone on the lekook list is included on the church's official list. Sending the normal church announcements to the lekook list does not send it to more people. It just sends it to a subset of church's list twice. Send an email request to admin@lcuuc.org to have it sent out to the broader church list. Regards, Karl Timm listmaster@lekook.org P.S. Regarding the origin of the name of list: the name could be interpreted as the "The Kook". It has its origin at being the pronunciation of "LCUUC" by a young child at our church. To post a message to all the list members, send email to lekooks@lekook.org. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to Lekooks
Subscribe to Lekooks by filling out the following form. This is a closed list, which means your subscription will be held for approval. You will be notified of the list moderator's decision by email. This is also a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.
