I voted early. Had some difficulty finding good data on the candidates. An old friend shared this recommendation with me.

There is a virtual DPI state superintendent candidate forum tonight at 7pm. It will focus on what is at stake for BIPOC students. More info is on the SURJ FB page. For what it is worth, I believe, many are supporting Dr. Williams.

I don't know if we dare weigh in for or against specific candidates, given the tax code, on this LCUUC site, but then the tax code is largely ignored anyway by other churches. That being said, the only thing about the candidates I know, which is neither "for" or "against", is that Kerr is backed by the Republican Party and Underly is backed by WEAC. I know nothing about the other candidates other than they are all "for education".

Thanks TracyThe State Superintendent of Public Instruction is on the ballot . I checked with my niece, who I highly respect and  who works on racial justice issues for the Department of Public Instruction in Madison, and she recommends Jill Underly. She also likes Shelia Briggs who she often works with.Phil
