Thanks for continuing this conversation and for the link so everyone can read this important information. From this info, I can see that the manufacturer is saying that the test is reliable, 99% if done at least two days after exposure. And takes up to 72 hours to process once they receive it in their lab, after you ship it to them by ups. So they recommend you request the test six days before you need the results.
So that means if you are quarantined for two days before and six days after, you would probably not ba at risk of infecting others. And everyone else in your group also followed these rules. BUT they are still saying you should not use a negative result to discontinue social distancing. See below.
Part of the reason the virus continues to spread is that people assume they are safe. We all have to make our own decisions about the risks of gathering indoors. We are following the five days quarantined (not social distanced) with a test or ten days without.
The information and options are continuing to change so it’s good to review new options and this test is one to consider if done properly.
The good news is that the numbers of people infected and dying is gong down, although it is still about 3,000 people dying every day in our country. I am hopeful we will all be vaccinated soon. Over 8% of people are vaccinated at this point which could be better, but in the coming months we will all get a chance to be vaccinated.
Take care, Janis

You receive the supplies you need to collect your saliva sample, collect the sample while being observed via ZOOM, and send your sample to a lab (Infinity BiologiX - CAP accredited). Results should be available 48-72 hours after the laboratory receives the sample. Collecting at home is a benefit as it removes the potential for getting infected (or infecting others) by going to a collection site. The difficulty is that the result indicates the presence or absence of the virus in your sample at the time it was collected. By the time you get the results back, you might have become infected or your infection might have resolved.
