[Lekooks] Boston Artist Doesn't See Freedom In Lincoln Statue Featuring Enslaved Man, Calls For Removal

Here's a link to the article about the artist who wants the Lincoln / slave
statue moved to a museum. (This is re: the copy in Boston of the original.)
It includes a link to the live radio interview.

While searching for this I found other articles which discuss the mixed
feelings that even black people have about this statue. Even the
descendants of the slave, Archer Alexander, are divided in their feelings
of whether the statue should stand. I think none of these issues are
clear-cut, and one can see merit in both opinions. My belief on the subject
of taking down memorials, for what it's worth, is that if they represent
trauma and continue to cause pain for a group of people, then that group of
people gets to decide.

One could perhaps try to imagine what it would be like if you had been
abused or raped and were forced to look at a photograph of your attacker on
a regular basis. A photograph with a plaque glorifying your attacker as an
upstanding hero. It keeps the pain alive and it adds insult to injury.
