Dear Ones,
I hope you and yours are well and keeping your spirits up!
At our house, we're just fine and have been bitten by the mask-making bug--a great way to use all that fabric from days gone by. I put out the call on Facebook to see if there were folks in the communities of color in Milwaukee that are especially hard-hit and received a request from the folks at All Peoples Church, "a cross-cultural congregation with a powerful and prophetic ministry in Milwaukee's Harambee neighborhood on the corner of 2nd and Clarke." (http://allpeoplesgathering.org/home <http://allpeoplesgathering.org/home>)
My friend's nephew, Xavier Thomas, is the youth minister there and says this: "We give out produce and food bags from 11-3 every Wednesday. Then hot food dinners from 5:30 - 6:30 every weekday. We encounter lots of people without masks among other things. If you make more [masks] we will be happy to give them out. We also will take anything not used here to other communities where the virus is hard hitting."
If you have masks to share, please send them to

Please include a note indicating you're from LCUUC, so he knows where they are coming from.
Also, we are getting to the end of our stash of fabric and thread (believe it or not!). If you'd don't have time to sew but would like me to pick up your extra fabric/thread for the cause, please email me separately: kimsuhr at mac.com <mailto:kimsuhr at mac.com>. If you'd like to sew but need materials, I can be a go between that way, too. (again, please email me). The best fabric is quilter's cotton, but other fabrics can work as long as you can't see light through them when they are doubled.
Be well, all!
Kim
