[Lekooks] Save Trails! The DNR Needs Your Input, Act Now!

Karen Haskell recently shared information about the DNR decision *not *to
groom the Scuppernong ski trails anymore.  If you love skiing there, and
want to have input on the future plans of the DNR for recreation in our
area, you can give your input in writing, or attend an Open House meeting
in some nearby areas.  Below is more information about how to make your
views heard on this issue.   There are some organized groups, such as ATV
enthusiasts who are pushing for more access.  Those of us who support
silent sports need to have our views heard!

Recreation opportunities analysis (ROA)

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources' mission includes providing a
healthy, sustainable environment in which a full range of outdoor
opportunities may be enjoyed by all people. To that end, the DNR is
embarking on a study, known as the Recreation Opportunities Analysis (ROA),
of existing outdoor-based recreation opportunities and future recreation
needs in each region of the state. The study will identify future needs for
providing high-quality recreation experiences and the role of DNR
properties in helping to meet those needs.
Public Input Update - New and Final Regions of Study

Open house meetings are designed to gather public comments, ideas,
concerns, and perspectives on the existing recreation opportunities
available in the region and future needs. Open house meetings for the final
two regions, Southern Gateways and Lower Lake Michigan Coastal, will occur
from 4-7pm at the following dates and locations:

*Tuesday, December 5 – Baraboo*

*Wednesday, December 6 – Horicon*

*Tuesday, December 12 – Milwaukee *
