We LCUUCers have generously contributed to aid the victims of the Tsunami in Indonesia and earthquake in Haiti. Now the people along the Texas Gulf coast need help, too. Please consider donating to the American Red Cross, who is on the forefront of providing aid to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Hurricane Harvey
Dear Gerald,
As I write this, Hurricane Harvey is bearing down on the state of Texas, the most dangerous hurricane we have seen in this country in over a decade. Harvey’s destructive path has brought sustained winds of nearly 100 mph, with total expected rain accumulations of 15-30 inches. From everything that I know so far, this storm’s impact will be devastating for thousands of families.
If you or a loved one are in the path of the storm and in need of assistance, here is how to get help now.
The Red Cross, working alongside our volunteers and partners, is prepared to shelter thousands of impacted families and is mobilizing thousands of disaster relief workers to help. More than 24 shelters are open and over 40 emergency response vehicles have been activated with more on alert. Trailers full of shelter and relief supplies, including meals, water, cots and blankets, are ready to help support families in need. Join our efforts: make an urgently needed donation right now to provide immediate relief to the families in Hurrican Harvey’s path.
Unlike any hurricane in memory, this storm will be stationary for days, dropping heavy rain over the same counties in Texas through Wednesday. We are expecting many homes to be heavily damaged or destroyed and lives disrupted. We will be there to provide support on the ground for weeks, and possibly for months to come but we cannot do it without your help. Please donate generously today to help people affected by Hurricane Harvey.
I will keep you updated on our response operations and all the forms of assistance made possible by your generosity and that of others. When communities stand up to help others, we can bring hope to families even in their darkest moments.
Thank you for all that you do.
Sincerely,
Harvey Johnson

Staying in touch via the American Red Cross email list is the best way we have of keeping in regular contact with supporters like you, letting you know about how you can protect yourself and your loved ones from disasters and other emergencies, and how you can support our life-saving work. Click here to unsubscribe from our list, but please know that if you leave, it will be harder for you to stay involved with the Red Cross and continue the work of which you've been such a critical part. It is only because of supporters like you that the Red Cross is able to respond when a disaster strikes or a home is impacted by fire, when someone needs CPR or a lifesaving blood transfusion, or when a family needs to contact a deployed service member in an emergency. And we don't want to lose you! Thanks for your support!
