Several LCUUC members attended the Racial Justice seminar this past Saturday at Alverno College. As a follow-up, one of the speakers, Reggie Jackson of Milwaukee's America's Black Holocaust Museum, gave a short presentation of the history segregation in the Milwaukee area. Though I had understood we are the most segregated major city in the country I hadn't fully realized just how intentionally it was engineered. In a more detailed presentation Wednesday evening at Shorewood Library (6:30 pm) Reggie Jackson will discuss how Milwaukee became the most segregated metropolitan area in the nation and the wide ranging impacts of segregation on the community at large. Please join me in attending this important presentation- understanding can become the motivation to forcing change.
