Hi Everyone

I'm forwarding Carl Lock's email. Carl is from the Waukesha Health Care Initiative, a part of Grassroots Waukesha.

You may get the full report at the Grassroots link below.

It would be very helpful to have a good turnout for the public hearing presentation of the report on Thursday, April 7 at 7:00. You may submit a written letter that evening if you wish.

This activity is in support of expanding Wisconsin's Medicaid program so more state citizens can have access to health care.

Hope you can make it.

Subject: Press Release - Update

Today I've talked with Waukesha Now and emailed our press release and report to them. They will get back if they want to talk with us.

Tomorrow we have a 10am appointment with Katherine Michalets of the Freeman who did an excellent 3 part series on health care last November.

Carl

Press Release 3/14/16 corrected

Waukesha Health Care Initiative to Present Report

On Saturday, March 19, the Waukesha Health Care Initiative will be distributing pamphlets outside Waukesha County libraries based on their recently completed report "We Can Lower Health Insurance Costs and Meet the Healthcare Needs of Waukesha County." They will be presenting this report at the Waukesha County Public Hearing on April 7.

The group undertook this project because the high cost of health insurance is a concern for both businesses and individuals. An unhealthy population affects worker productivity and family pocketbooks.

Serious community problems such as alcohol and drug addiction impact individuals and families regardless of age or economic status. The group recommends a way to fund solutions that would address this and other public health problems in light of the severe budget restrictions facing county and local governments today.

The first step is for Wisconsin to adopt the full federal Medicaid program offered by the Affordable Care Act. This will enroll an additional 83,000 people in BadgerCare and at the same time provide a savings of $215 million dollars per year for the state. This savings can then be invested into programs that reduce health care cost and make people healthier. Addressing public health concerns in turn will reduce health insurance costs for everyone.

The Waukesha Health Care Initiative consists of 3 local grassroots groups: Grassroots Waukesha, SOPHIA, and the Citizen Action Organizing Cooperative. They encourage everyone to attend the Waukesha County Public Hearing on April 7 or submit letters expressing their concerns about this important healthcare subject.
