Dear Friends,
Even if you do not live in the City of Delafield, a letter supporting a rustic road designation for Cushing Park Road would be greatly appreciated.
1. Cushing Park Road would become a “connector” Rustic Road for the Rustic "Mill Road" located just to the north. Especially if bikers, drivers, or hikers would like to access the Ice Age Trail,
Lapham Peak State Park, or the Glacial Drumlin State Trail which connects via a paved bike path running along Cushing Park Road.
2. Cushing Park Road terminates on the north end at Cushing Memorial Park

Cushing Memorial Park, Biking/Hiking, Fishing/Tackle, Parks, Summer Fun, Trails. 600 North Cushing Park Road Delafield, WI 53018.
This park provides connections to the Veteran's Memorial River Walk along the Bark River, and the Lake Country Bike trail.
3. Cushing Park Road is located just a few blocks east of the Historic Hawks Inn and Fish Hatchery.
http://hawksinn.org/
4. Cushing Park Road contains a parking lot allowing access to extensive off road trails by entering the Lapham Peak State Park from the western boundary. These trails connect hikers, mountain bikers and horse back riders to the numerous pathways, including the Ice Age Trail and other historic features such as the “Peace Spring,” an American Indian meeting place.
5. Cushing Park Road offers stellar open sky views of uninterrupted Native Prairie and Southern Kettle Moraine Forests containing the highest point in Waukesha County. Views of Oak Openings (a globally significant plant community) can also be seen from the road by hikers, drivers and bikers.
6. Cushing Park Road contains open grown oaks hanging over the road offering country charm while experiencing views of rural farmsteads and landscapes including crossing over the spring fed Scoopernong Creek.
On a more technical level:
Wisconsin sits on the confluence of three great eco-regions: Northern Boreal Forests, Tall Grass Prairie and Eastern Deciduous Forests.
Cushing Park Road is unique by offering 180 degree views of two of the three great eco-regions without any interruption flowing from Tall Grass Prairie to Eastern Deciduous Forests.

Request for: Letters of Support for Cushing Park Road to be designated a "Rustic Road".
Hello!
I'm forwarding a request being made of folks of local environmental groups.
I (along with Jill Bedford & other supporters) are asking you if you would be willing to write a letter to Mayor Michele DeYoe (and copy to me- Jackie Valde) Supporting Cushing Park Road as a Rustic Road.
There are many very strong reasons to support this designation listed by Jill below.
Please note: The Town of Delafield has already made such a designation to the southern part of Cushing Park Road (This vote was made on February 9th).
We are asking the City of Delafield to follow suit. It only makes sense.
PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH ANY YOU BELIEVE WOULD BE SUPPORTIVE AND WILLING TO WRITE TO MICHELE.
THIS IS ON THE MARCH 21st Agenda - so a quick not to Michele - Copy to me: (816 Mill Street - Delafield OR jvalde at ci.delafield.wi.us<mailto:jvalde at ci.delafield.wi.us>)
Write as soon as possible - so these make the city's "ePacket" and go on the public record.
If you are willing to show up on the 21st that would be a bonus - but it's not essential.
A letter of support would be extremely helpful!
Again:
PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH FOLKS YOU KNOW AND WOULD BE WILLING TO WRITE A QUICK NOTE TO MICHELE.
Thank you!
Bless you!
jackie

Hello all,
On March 21st, The City of Delafield Common Council will be considering Cushing Park Road for Rustic Road Designation. The first step has been accomplished: The Town of Delafield elders voted in favor of applying. The next step is to gain approval from the City Common Council. If the Council votes in favor, it goes to the Rustic Road Board of Wisconsin where it will be reviewed/considered for a final decision.
The Rustic Roads program relies on the initiative of local residents, area businesses and organizations demonstrating grass roots efforts and support.
For that reason, we are looking for “Letters of Support”
Below is a list of the major attributes Cushing Park Road has in its favor. Your group may have more to add !
