[Lekooks] Memory care recommendations

So I work in home health as a physical therapist and have been to dozens of
facilities in Waukesha County. There are a few I can definitively recommend
you should avoid, and unfortunately none of them are as good as their
marketer or tour guides lead you to believe....I can't tell you how many
hours I've spent on the phone with family members/POA's (usually a child of
the resident), who are at their wits end because facility staff aren't
attentive or buildings are not actually providing the services promised at
the time if admission. HOWEVER, with that being said, there are a few that
are better and accept Medicare with a Medicaid secondary. As mentioned by
others, Three Pillars just started filling memory care units within the
past year and still have several empty rooms. They did have a COVID
outbreak that started in October and was continuously extended at least
through January, which impacted their activities schedule, but they have
diverse activities and community "field trips" and their food at least
looks and smells good! The other place I learned to love after initially
hating it is Brookdale Capitol. It's strictly memory care but they have the
best activities director I have ever come across, she is so patient and
every activity is specifically picked and targeted to engage and stimulate
the brain of a patient with Alzheimer or dementia progession. She is there
all day, bakes food for the residents, voluntarily works all major
holidays, I can't say enough good things about Vanessa, and that alone
promotes such a positive environment. It's a small building and they get to
know each resident inside and put. I'm sorry this ended up being so long
winded, I don't know if it helped, but feel free to reach out if needed,
I'm familiar with a lot of the buildings, (and please try to avoid
LindenGrove and Aria if possible, they seem to be the worst stories I hear
and have yet to meet any family that can even say just 1 positive anything
about their experience) Good luck!
