Hi Lekooks
The republican controlled Wisconsin legislature is voting this week on a
constitutional amendment to strip our current democratic governor of his
authority to allocate federal funds such as the massive funding for clean
energy recently passed by the US Congress in the Inflation Reduction Act. *See
the email below for emailing your Wisconsin legislators to urge them to
oppose this amendment.*

*This is a special action alert! *
As early as this week the State Senate and then the Assembly will be voting
on Assembly Joint Resolution 6
<https://www2.citizensclimatelobby.org/acton/ct/17897/s-1936-2402/Bct/l-sf-rpt-00OUP000000eDbF-5adb/l-sf-rpt-00OUP000000eDbF-5adb:305/ct1_0/1/lu?sid=TV2%3Aer6ROggRX>
(AJR6),
which proposes a constitutional amendment that would shift control over
federal funds received by the state from the Governor to the State
Legislature. As authorized by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and
Inflation Reduction Act, massive federal funding for clean energy
development, green jobs, and climate resilience is coming into Wisconsin
already, and much more is ahead. The proposed amendment could severely
jeopardize Wisconsin’s timely access to those funds and so its transition
to a clean energy economy.
In order to amend Wisconsin’s constitution, the proposed amendment must be
approved by the legislature in two consecutive sessions and then approved
in a state-wide referendum. It has already been approved by the previous
legislature. If it’s approved by the Wisconsin Senate and Assembly again, a
referendum for its approval will be held this coming November.

*2. Send emails to both of them urging them to oppose AJR6*.
Here’s a sample message that you can cut and paste. (You can, of course,
modify it as you see fit, or come up with your own.)
Dear [Senator][Representative][______________]
I am deeply concerned about the proposed Assembly Joint Resolution 6
(AJR6). This resolution poses a significant threat to Wisconsin's ability
to efficiently accept and allocate federal funds, jeopardizing timely
access to critical investments in clean energy initiatives and emergency
response. I strongly urge you to oppose AJR6 and ensure that Wisconsin's
access to federal funds remains efficient, responsive, and aligned with the
state's urgent needs.

commendable action.
Let’s do this!
