Dear Friends,
The City of Delafield has requested a DNR permit to build 6 piers which will be open for public use on St. John's Bay, part of Nagawicka Lake. The bay is on Genesee St. across from the post office. The bay feeds into the Bark River. This bay is a very shallow fish spawning area. The increase in motor boats in this small shallow bay will disrupt the aquatic environment and cause silt to enter the Bark River, a designated trout stream. The permit has been tentatively granted. The DNR ONLY considered the impact of the floating piers and gave ZERO CONSIDERATION to the environmental impact of the boats which will be using these piers. I attended a Zoom public hearing. The public has until April 10th to write to Alison Masek, the DNR official who approves the permit, with your views. Even if you do not live in Delafield, you have a right to voice your opinion on this permit for piers which will cause environmental harm to the Bark River and Nagawicka Lake. Please email Alison Maesk: State your name and address in your email. Again, even if you do not live in Delafield, as a resident of the State of Wisconsin you have a right to comment on this issue.

Thank you,
Fran Bills
