Hello again friends. I'm sorry I was not more detailed in my message - of
course it didn't occur to me that people would look up the agenda and
double check the situation so I was not more specific.
No - there is no overt item about banning books on the agenda. They
wouldn't be so bold. It is couched in a rather vaguely phrased other
description. Below is a message from a friend who I contacted who has a
connection over there. Please read what she had to say about it, including
the quoted agenda item. If you can go and live in Hartland, I think it
would be a good idea. It is getting very scary, this effort toward
censorship and control of information.

Thank you.

Here is my friend's brief message:
(Because she holds an elected position, she has asked me to keep source
names private. )

"On the Library Board agenda for tonight is the item “Discuss consideration
of Sharing Titles for Collection Development Awareness Purposes”. I’m
hearing that a board member is requesting a monthly report of all the new
titles that the library purchases. I guess we can guess why the board
member would like that information." " You should share what I sent. That
info is from a trustworthy source. If someone is “reviewing” titles, they
are up to no good. That’s the job of the imminently qualified, extremely
educated librarians."

So again, they are absolutely not going to be clear that what they are
discussing is allowing someone to censor and review what the librarians
want to purchase for the library. It's worth your time to go, and send
emails objecting to this proposition after the meeting. If you go and you
do not think this is what they are proposing, well I guess better safe than
sorry. If I lived in Hartland I would take the time to go just in case.

Thanks for your time!
