Systemic racism has harmed and continues to harm and disadvantage Black and Indigenous People of Color. Faith Leaders across Wisconsin are increasingly disturbed at attempts to mislead citizens using both religious and patriotic venues. This undermines positive efforts to acknowledge and dismantle the racism that has characterized the laws and history of our country from its earliest days.

Some citizens are trying to ignore or deny racism’s reality.  Their efforts are troubling.  As American citizens, we need to accept our history, including the mistakes.  SOPHIA believes that our citizens are not too fragile to cope with the history of what racism has done - and is doing - to oppress others: The truth will set us all free.

There are efforts to restrict the teaching of history in our schools, especially the history of racism, and de-value the establishment of "positive equity goals" to ensure all people are valued and can thrive in every community. 

All children deserve a real chance to succeed. As people of faith, we need to stand up and speak the truth of equity for all. 

Join us to reflect on these values
and to build a movement to protect them!
