Good Morning All,

We received notice last night that Family Promise of Waukesha County will
place a temporary "pause" on accepting families. This was a very difficult
decision, one that was not made lightly. These are such uncertain and
stressful times for ALL of us, imagine that you and your family are
homeless or have just recently found housing and employment. In the email
that announced the decision, the Executive Director, Joe Nettesheim,
mentioned some ways that we may continue to help this very vulnerable
population. Please see below for a portion of the letter and feel free to
contact me or Family Promise directly if you have suggestions of how to be
of more help.

>From FP of Waukesha County:

.....The timing of this decision allows us to protect our volunteers
without displacing a family. This temporary decision will be reviewed as
the situation unfolds. Family Promise will do what we are able, outside of
shelter, to help families during this challenging time. We will remain in
contact with our alumni and work with them to ensure that this crisis does
not lead to a return to homelessness. We have already been able to provide
supplies and hope to offer gift cards for groceries and gas as needed.

In addition, the staff of Family Promise of Waukesha County will begin
working remotely Tuesday, March 17. This is in order to protect the health
of our staff and to do our part in social distancing to contain the spread
of COVID-19. We also intend to limit face to face meetings. This means
that those seeking assistance, wanting to donate or interested in learning
more about Family Promise should call our on-call line 1-262-309-7027 or
email info at familypromisewaukesha.org. Donations will be accepted by
appointment only.

Finally, we have had many inquire about how they can best help. Please
share this with those who want to support our families:

· Make a financial donation

· Provide gift cards for Pick N Save, Woodman’s, Meijers, Aldi or
other grocery stores, fast food restaurants (drive thru restaurants) Target
and/or Kwik Trip (fuel only)

· Donate toilet paper, cleaning products, hand sanitizer

· If we decide to utilize hotels in the future, we will be seeking
individuals to:

o Be “on-call” to assist with child-care or tutoring for children will be
doing school online- (need to have participated in FP training and undergo
a criminal background check)

o Be “on-call” to make meals for families if we house in a hotel.

We are concerned for those who may contract the virus and know how those
who are vulnerable will be hurt the most. Yet we know that the effects of
this disease can be devastating for those who do not have the resources to
withstand this storm. Let us take this time to prepare ourselves to be
present to those in need once it passes. Thank you for your care and
concern for families who are experiencing homelessness.

Thank you everyone,
