I don't know if you all get this or not, but there is info herein about available assistance for rent assistance and help with utility payments if needed.

Subject: A Message From Governor Tony Evers and Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes on the COVID-19 Pandemic

Good Afternoon,
On behalf of the people of Wisconsin, Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes and I hope this letter finds you safe and healthy. As we have done throughout the past several months, we would like to provide you with the most up to date and accurate information available regarding the current public health crisis.
As you know, last month a Wisconsin Supreme Court decision immediately ended the Safer at Home Order. However, we know that COVID-19 has and will continue to affect folks and communities across our state until we have a vaccine. That’s why we need everyone to continue doing their part to keep our families, our neighbors, and our communities safe by continuing to wear face masks, staying safer at home when possible, practicing social distancing, and limiting travel. We’re not out of the woods yet, folks. That’s why our administration has devoted over $1 billion from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) to support local communities through testing, contact tracing, PPE, and other resources needed throughout the state. We have also secured funding for the Food Security Initiative and to support small businesses via low-interest loans. As we all continue to adjust to our new normal, our administration continues to work around the clock to prepare for any future surges of COVID-19.
Lieutenant Governor Barnes and I understand that many around the state continue to struggle financially, and we are pleased to share that the state has programs to help folks weather this crisis. One example of such a program is the Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program, designed to assist Wisconsinites who are having difficulty paying their rent. To be eligible for this program, applicants must be an adult Wisconsin resident with a household income at or below 80 percent of their county median income in the month of or month prior to their application date. Once approved, eligible applicants may receive up to $3,000 in a combination of rental payments and/or security deposits, which will be paid directly to the landlord on behalf of the tenant.
Additionally, in an effort to prevent long-term increases in utility bills, the Public Service Commission recently voted to lift the temporary ban on utility disconnections for nonpayment during the COVID-19 public health emergency. This means that Wisconsinites’ utilities can now be shut off due to nonpayment. If you are at risk of not being able to pay your utility bills, we recommend that you read about the following resources you may be eligible for.
Lieutenant Governor Barnes and I know these are challenging times. We also know that we will get through these times by working together. We encourage all Wisconsinites to continue to stay home as much as possible and to apply for the economic relief that they are eligible for. If you must leave your home, please continue to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and take precautions to protect the health of our families, our neighbors, and our communities. And, as always, please do not hesitate to respond to this email if we can be of further assistance to you.
