My friends:
I’ve been tracking daily COVID numbers for Waukesha County for many months now and the number of new positive cases in the last few days is alarming. Now is the time to “lay low” and stay home, wear a mask if you have to go out, cancel any group plans, and be safe. Write your school board and aldermen and the governor and demand safety measures, based on science.

Waukesha County cases have doubled since July 4 (now 2,632).
The city of Oconomowoc, where I live, has doubled in the last 12 days (now 105).
The town of Oconomowoc has doubled in the last 9 days (now 52).

When I posted about the facts of an alarming increase of COVID positive cases a few days ago on Facebook, I received some comments that are myths.

Myth: They count positives multiple times per person so those numbers are inflated.
Fact: ONE positive test per person (the first) and one negative test per person (the first) is counted. From WI Dept. of Health Services - "Testing data represent the number of people tested by the diagnostic test that detects the virus in the nose and throat (and not a blood test that detects antibodies). Multiple tests per person are not included in these summary statistics.”

Myth: My friend was in line for testing and didn’t get tested but got a report in the mail that they tested positive so the numbers can’t be trusted.
