Thanks, Kerry. I just called the Town of Genesee. There is a dropbox slot on the outside of the building that can be used for the absentee ballots as well as building plans, etc. Otherwise, the woman I spoke to suggested mailing the ballot back immediately. The absentee ballots will go out around the end of September.

Thanks so much Kerry. I called Delafield City Hall. Like Wales, City residents may drop ballots in tbe locked box marked for utility bill payments. It's next to the library book drop. The utility payment box is emptied several times a day.
At this time, Delafield has no plans for a separate ballot box.

Subject: Re: [Lekooks] Ask for Absentee Ballot boxes! I thought that absentee ballots were not opened and counted until Election Day. When I participated in 2018 that was the case. If we have millions of absentee/ mail in ballots we will need a lot more volunteers to count these ballots. A lot. We can’t just ask for mail in ballots we have to support their ability to get those ballots counted in a timely and efficient and accurate manner. If you are able to, volunteer to count those ballots.Lisa a

Thanks so much for this, Kerry. I just spoke to the person at the Village of Wales and she said there was no drop box but people are allowed to use the night drop box at the Village Hall. So folks who live in Wales have it covered. :)

Dear lekooks,
I imagine that many of us will be voting absentee this fall, and with all the troubling issues with the postal service, perhaps worrying about our ballot being received and counted. In Colorado, all voting is by mail, and they have poll ballot boxes that voters can place their ballots into - similar to mailboxes, but different-looking and clearly marked as for ballots. The Wisconsin Election Commission has let the Wisconsin Clerks know that they can establish drop boxes for absentee ballots that must be secure and emptied daily, but not all clerks have done so. I have asked my municipality to install one, and I would encourage all of us to ask our local clerks to do so. We know how important this election is!
Here's the link from the Wisconsin Elections Commission to back you up: https://elections.wi.gov/node/6798
Let's do all we can to make sure everyone has a chance to vote safely and have their vote counted!
Kerry
