I attended last nights session along 3 other participants plus some of the Scouts and their mothers. It was presented by someone from "Your Choice", which is an agency funded by the State for the purpose of informing the public about the opioid epidemic and how to use NARCAN (Narcalone) as an antidote for opioid overdose. We have all heard of the opioid epidemic in our country, but the anecdotes I heard last night really brought it home (the trainer had a teen-age daughter who died of an overdose). This is no longer just a problem for "those people" but is epidemic in our young people and elderly people on pain killers as well.

NARCAN is very effective in saving the life on an overdosed person, if administered promptly. There is a NARCAN kit in the AED cabinet on the wall in the Front Foyer. I recommend the training for our church members, as well as anyone else who deals with the public, friends or family members (ie just about anyone). I can schedule the trainer to come to LCUUC for an hour-long session if there is enough interest.

Hello everyone. 

I have a Scout in Deven’s Troop, Alex, working on his Eagle project, with the help of the Waukesha County Department of Health & Human Services. He has asked his Assistant Scoutmasters to put out word of his training sessions to their communities and churches.

Alex is running 2 meetings at St Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll Street, Waukesha, 53186 (next to the Waukesha Public Library) on November 5th and November 11th, from 6PM-7. All attendees 18 and over will receive a free 1-time use Narcan kit.
