[Lekooks] Do you live in the Kettle Moraine School District?

I recommend everyone in the District go to an informational meeting to find out why this referendum is necessary. As for "And we are in the last 20% of districts in the state who have not sent a referendum to vote in the last 20 years", we voted in favor of one in 2014, for capital funds and deferred maintenance. As for being the "3rd poorest district in the county", being the 3rd poorest of the richest doesn't make one poor. Just drive around the area and look at all the palatial homes to see what I mean.

In case you’d like to learn more about the operating referendum in the Kettle Moraine School District, here is a link to information about presentations: https://www.kmsd.edu/Page/2684
The way we fund schools in this state undoubtedly needs to be fixed, but, in the meantime, there are real needs to consider…
Thanks!
Kim

Gerry, please check out the website. Perceptions are sometimes wrong. We are the 3rd poorest district in the county. And we are in the last 20% of districts in the state who have not sent a referendum to vote in the last 20 years.

Thanks for passing this along, Heidi. I do have some serious questions about this, and a presentation as you suggest would help.

I have a problem with referendums like this to fund operating expenses. What this means is that rich districts (like Kettle Moraine or Arrowhead) can provide more funds for operations than the poorer ones can. I think the right answer is for the State to go back to funding 2/3 of the public school operations, and by the way, eliminate the parallel "voucher" school taxpayer payments and focus on the public schools as required by the State Constitution.

If you live in the Kettle Moraine School District, have you heard about the KMSD Operating Referendum that will be on the ballot? Please go the link below to read more about the Operating Referendum.  https://www.kmsd.edu/Page/2624.

If you have questions or comments you would like to address to the KMSD Financial Department, please email Referendum at kmsd.edu
If anyone would rather be at an in person presentation, please contact me. With 5 or more people, we could get a presentation at church.
