Thanks to all those that made calls to their representative to support the
Energy innovation and Climate Dividend Act! Its making a difference- Kim
Suhr got an email response back from Representative Bryan Steil (WI-01)
that indicates we have raised his awareness. Also another caller had an aid
to Rep Steil say to keep those calls coming (Is the aid wanting help moving
him on this issue?). *One last appeal- please call your rep in the next 3
days, especially if you are in WI-01 (south of HWY 18). See the link below
to make the call- its super easy- even has a script if you want.* It really
does make a difference. When I and a team of 12 other constituents walk
into his office in WDC on Tuesday the reception will be very different if
they have received 100s of calls.

Today is a Call Congress Day to ask your representative to take action on
Climate Change. If you heard Mike Jury and Phil Smith's presentation on
solutions to climate change at church a few weeks ago you will be somewhat
familiar with the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act that Mike and I
will be lobbying for in WDC this Tuesday. The calls are intended to
inundate congress with the importance of this issue and this bill*. Please
call- it does make a difference.* For details and a link to our Citizens
Climate Lobby website with its call link.

p.s. The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act would impose a tax on
fossil fuels (e.g., coal, oil, natural gas) as they come out of the ground
and return that money to each household in a monthly check. The money is
intended to offset the increased costs of electricity, fuel and products as
the tax is passed on to consumers. Low and middle income households will
receive more dividend money than they payout in increased costs. The higher
costs of fossil fuels that will more closely reflect their long term costs
to society and will lead markets to replace them with renewables and other
innovative approaches.

Wed. June 5th: *Call Congress! *Then tell a friend to *Call Congress!*
This weekend 11 of us from the Milwaukee area are joining 1,500 other
citizens in Washington DC for the CCL International Conference and Lobby
Day -- and we need your help! Tomorrow, Wednesday June 5th we want you to
lend your voice to create a massive (but respectful) roar for climate
action. All it takes is a few phone calls. Then ask a friend to call as
well.

The best way to call is by clicking on this link: http://cclusa.org/call
<https://citizensclimatelobby.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=dc20ae2033c25ef193c61d04d&id=3d0491bab6&e=a14354f35c>.
You enter your address and zipcode, then you are given the numbers to call
and a simple script.

If you don't read this until Thursday or Friday, that's fine, calls those
days are good too. Again that link: http://cclusa.org/call

.
Tues. June 11th: Tweet Congress! Ask a friend to Tweet Congress!
And next week, on the actual day we'll be in the House and Senate office
buildings, instead of calling we're Tweeting. You will need a Twitter
account, but once you have that, the handy link w/ a suggested tweet is
right here: http://cclusa.org/tweet

  Meetings Saturday
And it's the second Saturday. So Milwaukee area Citizens' Climate Lobby

Hsu, share successes, and make more great plans. The "City of Milwaukee"
group meets at 11:30 at the First Unitarian Society (1342 N. Astor

the "Milwaukee West" group meets at 11 at Unity Church in Wauwatosa (1717
N. 73rd

PS Terry passed along this quote and link you might find inspiring:

This is an extraordinary op-ed coauthored by a Democrat and a Republican.

"Businesses know all about the risks of climate change. Companies are
increasingly experiencing disruptions to their supply chains and damages to
their assets from floods, droughts, wildfires, storms, and other
climate-driven extreme weather, and investors see it reflected in their
portfolios. Businesses’ bottom lines show that climate change isn’t a
far-off risk, it’s a cost that’s already racking up damages to our economy
to the tune of more than $300 billion a year, an amount which is only
expected to grow.

That’s why we have both introduced legislation proposing a price on carbon.
A price on carbon will level the economic playing field in the energy
sector, unlock market-driven innovation, and lead to the deployment of low,
zero, and negative carbon technologies. It will help create millions of new
jobs and slash U.S. carbon emissions dramatically, making it a powerful
tool for curbing climate pollution."
