Oh this is good to hear I don't have any coffee grounds but I do have some really really really old bird seed and I was thinking of throwing that down......

 Just wanted to remind others that there are some other
 alternatives for traction on area ice covered
 sidewalks/driveways.  Today, I spread out the coffee grinds
 that are saved, on my ice covered back sidewalk.  dog and I
 both were safer.  Also, had enough to put on part of the
 driveway. 
 
 
 I have also heard wood ashes (from a fireplace work
 also.)
 
 
 We don't utilize salt, and have found others.
