If you haven't RSVPed yet for the People's Climate Rally and March this Saturday, and you know you will be coming, please do so now. Where's your Rise event? Find it and RSVP here. Choose the event at Zeidler Park, 301 W. Michigan St., 53203. The rally will start at 1pm, and will be followed by a march to City Hall and back.
If you need more convincing to come, read on: I'm getting very excited about next Saturday! I'm tired, and I hate to see summer ending already, and the daily grind of depressing news stories isn't helping. The world is literally on fire and it's easy to feel powerless to stop it.
But there is one thing we can do. We can rise up. Together.
Next Saturday, on September 8, across the country we will gather in marches and rallies to Rise for Climate, Jobs, & Justice. Find the closest event near you and RSVP today!RSVP today! In 2014, at the Peoples Climate Movement, we rose up and demanded action and we got it -- including unprecedented climate and clean energy policies from the Obama Administration. But now those policies are in danger. In 2017, we rose up to show Trump and Scott Pruitt that they could not roll back the progress we made. Pruitt's gone now, but too many of his dangerous policies are still moving forward.
We've marched at The Women's March, The March for Science, The March for Our Lives, and just in the last few months we've marched to protest family separation and to counter-protest white nationalists in Washington, DC. We march and we rise.
And we've seen it work. After we marched to keep families together, Trump walked back his inhumane policies. It's clear we need to keep rising up until we get the policies we need to protect the climate and bring clean energy, well-paying jobs, and justice to our communities.
We Rise again Saturday. Â We will rise together days before Governor Jerry Brown's Global Climate Action Summit to show our elected leaders that we demand action on climate change.
RSVP now to let us know you'll be there. And bring your friends, because rising up is always better in groups. To change everything, it takes everyone — and with your help, we can build a sustainable world for generations to come. This will be the largest distributed climate march the world has ever seen.
Terry
P.S. If you want to table for your organization, please bring your own table.
