The Milwaukee area Jewish community is gathering Monday evening in response to the violent attack this weekend at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. They are inviting the general public, people of good will from all faiths and philosophies, to join them. The Jewish Federation's invitation is below:
 

 
We are horrified and heartbroken by the attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh yesterday during Shabbat services. Words are insufficient to express our profound pain and sorrow.
Please join us for a community-wide gathering where we will mourn those who were killed:
 
Monday, October 29

 We have no reason to believe that our local community is at risk. However, from moments after the attack, we have been in close contact with law enforcement at all levels. We have increased patrols and police presence at synagogues and other Jewish institutions. We thank our partners in law enforcement for their responsiveness, support, and ongoing concern for our community.
Yesterday’s attack was an attack against Jews, but it was also an attack on the values of our nation. We must come together to counter the violent discourse and unfettered bigotry of these times.
 
We are grateful and deeply moved by the statements of concern, condolence, and support that we received from community leaders throughout Milwaukee.

May their memories be a blessing and may God console the survivors among other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. And may we all find healing.
