Hello! Greener Oconomowoc's Board of Directors has become aware of an urgent concern regarding the quality of our city tap water and local lakes.  The attached news article outlines the concern which involves Tag Lane Dairy's (a CAFO - Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation) request for a renewal license.  According to the article, the Tag Lane Dairy is located near a shallow recharge aquifer from which the city of Oconomowoc and draws its drinking water.  Manure from cow waste is being spread on or near the recharge area as well as the Oconomowoc River which flows into Lac La Belle and Fowler Lake.   I have one attachment to this email which is a newspaper article that describes the CAFO, and outlines concerns about its current and future operation. There is a public hearing about this issue 10 AM on TH May 31st at Oconomowoc's City Hall.  The public, can go in front of a DNR hearing officer and express concerns about our tap and lake water quality.  While this hearing is not at a convenient time for working citizens, it makes it very important for those who can attend to do so.   Thank you for your time in reviewing this concern.
