Hello All,
We begin our Host week this Sunday May 20. This is the first time that COR
will be hosting and LCUUC will be in the support role. I am confident
that things will go well, but please don't hesitate to ask questions as we
get used to hosting in a new space!!
The current host church has informed us that this is a great group of
families. They get along well and are helpful to each other and to the
volunteers. As you will see, there are lots of children (8) and *they like
to play games and participate in activities and do crafts or other projects*.
They are a* lively* bunch but I understand that they retire to their rooms
around 8:30 pm. They get up easily in the morning but someone should keep
them on track with time for the van driver.
*Current families in the Program:**Family #1: *Regina , Elyjah (male, 14),
Elysa (female, 14)
*Family #2:* Susan , Andrew (male, 15), Anthony (male, 12), Kylie (female,
9), Andre (male, 4), Kaylee (female, 3)
*Family #3:* Joyce , Shaquille (male, 3)
*Family #4: *Landen , Amanda (wife)
*School Age Volunteers*: The children who are of school age in the program
attend Kettle Moraine High School and Middle School and McGee Elementary
School as well as Milwaukee Lutheran High School. If any children of
volunteers attend these schools we ask that they ( the children) not help
out this time around out of respect for the privacy of the children in the
program. Youth who do not attend these schools and have been trained are
welcome to volunteer.
*Food Allergies and Intolerance*: Two of our guests are lactose
intolerant, but not severely. One guest has a severe allergy to shellfish.
*Schedule*: Regina and her family have permission to leave the church
every evening to take showers at the YMCA. They will either leave at
dinnertime or after. If they eat after the rest of the guests, they will
clean up the kitchen.
*Photos: *No photos of our guests are allowed The VCs are the only
individuals with permission to take photos and they are only to be shared
with Erin at the Day Center.
*Log Book: *Please be sure to write notes in the Log Book that goes back
and forth daily between the church and the Day Center. The Case Manager
reads the log book to get a feel for how the week is going. The Log Book
should be kept in a confidential location ( volunteers only) and given to
the van driver every morning. Our guests should not be given access to the
Log Book.
I know that I say it every time, but.....*.thank you* *all* for your
commitment and dedication to Family Promise and our families. It couldn't
happen without you and we are SO grateful for ALL of our volunteers!!!!!
