> I’ve been thinking about what we as a community want from the garden. It seems that we have had times when the garden flourished and times when there was not enough interest. I’ve been thinking about what purposes it serves or could serve as a way to consider the best use of the garden.

> 1. Spiritual practice. It is a place to be mindful of this amazing planet. Working the soil, marveling at tiny sprouts, nurturing plants, being outside, appreciating this beautiful world. I think this fits our UU values and is something we would want to continue to support.
>
> 2. Community. Just like at home, there are lots of jobs to do at church to keep the place up. Doing this work together can build community and provide a place for us to be together.
>
> Let’s make our garden more social and fun! It should be a spot to relax and enjoy ourselves, share our stories and plan our projects. Happy hour too!
>
> 3. Fruits of our labor. The produce we produce can be used in several possible ways. Many gardeners are motivated by the bounty they can produce and enjoy so it is good to keep our workers well supplied. Selling excess at coffee hour or offering a harvest potluck Farm to Table dinner would increase the visibility of the garden, get support for the garden and raise awareness about issues of food, nutrition and the environment. Donating excess to the food pantry helps others and reminds us of issues of social justice.

> Let’s continue to discuss possibilities and continue to enjoy our garden. Is there anything that you think we could do to make the garden more fun?
> Thanks,
