[Lekooks] Exciting News Regarding Family Promise and Our Support Church

Hello All,

I have some great news from our Family Promise support church, Church of
the Resurrection (COR) in Pewaukee.  Under the leadership of their new
minister, and with much encouragement from their volunteer base, their
Church Council has agreed to take on a more active role in Family Promise.
Our congregations will remain as partners and beginning in May of this year
we will share the host role.  This means that we will physically host the
families twice yearly and they will support us (as in the past), and they
will host the families twice yearly and we will act as their support.  This
year they will host in May and August.  This is a unique arrangement and I
think it will be great for both churches.  It will decrease the physical
demands on both churches and will hopefully increase volunteer engagement.
The decision to have COR host in May and August was based on the facts that
they have air conditioning and also took into consideration our building
remodeling.

We will support them in the same manner in which they have supported us.
We still have the same opportunities to sign up for volunteer shifts,
except for the overnight positions.  The overnight host role will still be
one male/one female, but at least one of those will be from COR.  The Sign
Up Genius will look the same except for the location.  Also, we had
recently agreed that the support  church will contribute $50/host week to
help with expenses.  (They contributed $50 in February of this year.)

Church of the Resurrection is planning to host a volunteer training in
April. Date TBD.  Our volunteers can attend this training/retraining (if
they so choose).  Hopefully, the training session will be followed by a
tour of the church.
