Sorry to bother again but there’s some good information here that I thought some of you would want. (My step-mom’s been sending informational emails like this since the election. She rocks!)

Subject: Children at the border
People who support this horror count on us letting it drop after a few days. We have to show them that we are working harder every day!
QUICK ACTION: Once again, contact your representative in Congress about the illegal separation of children at the border. We need to keep up pressure now!
Some points to remember: This is NOT a law passed by Democrats. There is a law against entering the US at the wrong place or without visa, etc., but it says nothing about separating children. This is purely a Trump policy.
Also, it is legal to enter to apply for asylum. That is not a criminal act.
Poem: HOME by Warsan Shire
DONATE: You can give to a variety of groups that are working to support the parents and children.
CONTACT BUSINESSES THAT SUPPORT AND ENABLE DETENTION: Several messages from Sleeping Giants, an online activist group.
1) We've learned that they're building a new child concentration camp in Houston.
Southwest Key Programs has signed a lease with the owner of the warehouse at 419 Emancipation Ave.
We have a lead on a part owner of this property, which they plan to use to incarcerate children as young as ZERO, after separating them from their parents:

PLEASE DO NOT SEND HARASSING EMAILS OR CALLS. That's not what we're about here. Be smart. Make a point. Send articles about what his building is being used for. He may not have been aware of this when the property was leased. Here's a template for a letter:

Hi David,
I wanted to bring to your attention that a building you own in Houston, 419 Emancipation Ave., will be used by Southwest Key Programs to imprison immigrant children whose parents are seeking asylum in the U.S.
If you weren't aware of how your property will be used, it's not too late to act. I urge you to back out of this lease now and to refuse to profit from this immoral practice.
You should not be profiting from crimes against humanity. Please act now.
Thank you,
[You]

2) We've learned today that Microsoft Azure has a business partnership with ICE - helping ICE "innovate faster" and make "more informed decisions faster." Wtf?
Worse: They've said "are proud to support" ICE's work.
However.
The truth is, a lot of us didn't know what ICE was up to until now. So let's give Microsoft a chance to respond and *hopefully* change course.
Help us reach out and get answers from the VP in charge:

Hi Jason,
I'm shocked to learn that Microsoft is a key player in the cruel policies being carried out by ICE.
I've learned from your website that Microsoft Azure helps "support the core Agency functions" of ICE.
I'm extremely concerned because we now know what ICE is really doing - separating children from their parents and traumatizing families seeking asylum in the U.S.
As ICE's actions are considered crimes against humanity, I would like to know whether you plan to continue to partnering with this agency?
In a blog published in January 2018, Microsoft states that "we’re proud to support [ICE's] work with our mission-critical cloud." Is this still the case?
It's important for me to understand where Microsoft stands on this issue in light of these recent reports. If you can provide me with a statement, that would be very helpful.
Thanks

3) Also this compay is working with ICE on transporting children to detentions:

Hello,
I've learned today that your business is transporting immigrant children to jails along the border.
These are children and asylum seekers. They should not be separated from their parents and they shouldn't be in concentration camps.
There is no way to justify taking part in the business of separating children from their families. Therefore, I'm urging you to back out of this contract IMMEDIATELY.
Thanks,
[You]
VIRTUAL PROTEST: From the SC Immigrant Forum:
We need to (1) raise awareness for folks that are outside of our progressive bubbles, (2) stand tall in the face of family separation- let's not hide behind FB updates; make your voices heard! (3) showcase what we are doing or considering doing to help these families (Check out the Resources section below!).
SO, WHAT DO I DO?
* Log on to Facebook Wednesday, June 20th at any time
*Record a FB Live video or regular video where you tell your network how you feel about family separation. (This can be short!)
Consider: how would you feel if you were separated from your child while seeking asylum? What do you want your community and those outside of it to think about in light on recent events? What action do you want to encourage your local community to take?
*Upload, share the hell out of it and use hashtags #EndFamilySeparation, #FamiliesBelongTogether #WorldRefugeeDay and any others that are relevant
I'M SCARED OF VIDEOS...
*That's OKAY! Simply create a video with flash cards that show the hashtags (see above). To make this protest effective, we need HUNDREDS of videos to #FloodtheFeeds
OK, COOL, BUT IS THIS REALLY GOING TO DO ANYTHING?
*YES! We know that we are in social media silos- that our friends that don't agree with us politically rarely see our posts and visa versa. BUT THIS is not about politics. This is about 2,000 CHILDREN that have been ripped from their parents in only six weeks. This is about "tent cities" in the blistering summer heat of Texas. This is a human appeal. This is a nonpartisan issue.
*By sharing your voice and resources (see below), you can raise funds for local organizations that are trying to reunite families, like RAICES and BOND.
OTHER WAYS TO DONATE:
- RAICES TX- a local organization with a bond fund to help reunited families and fight their cases from the outside. https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/bondfund?source=direct_link&
- Center for Gender and Refugee Services- CGRS is an excellent NGO that assists and trains attorneys to take asylum claims. https://cgrs.uchastings.edu/about/support-cgrs
- Funds for volunteer efforts for attorney/spanish speakers to go down to the border https://www.facebook.com/events/790962044429712/
- ACLU has recently filed a lawsuit challenging family separation and needs your help to keep litigation efforts going. https://www.aclu.org/cases/ms-l-v-ice
- NETA- media channel taking donations for families sleeping outside of ports of entry in extreme heat https://netargv.com/
- Florence Project- is an Arizona project offering free legal services to men, women, and unaccompanied children in immigration custody. https://firrp.org/donate/
- KIND (Kid in Need of Defense) works to ensure that kids do not appear in immigration court without representation, and to lobby for policies that advocate for children’s legal interests. https://supportkind.org/get-involved/
- Together Rising is a Virginia-based organization that’s helping provide legal assistance for 60 migrant children who were separated from their parents and are currently detained in Arizona. https://togetherrising.org/give/
LET'S DO THIS. PA'LANTE.
And thank you for all that you do.
Nancy
