NewsUpdates from previous community events and local ecology news stories! Last month, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation hosted an open house at UWM's School of Freshwater Sciences, the only interdisciplinary graduate school for freshwater research in the US. Guests were not only able to tour the facility, they were also able to speak with faculty and students while getting a firsthand look at current efforts to improve the ecosystems of Lake Michigan. Copies of Dan Egan's Pulitzer Prize finalist book, The Death and Life of The Great Lakes, were also distributed with an opportunity to meet the author as he signed books.Earlier this month, members of the Interfaith staff were invited to tour Rockwell Automation's green roof. On July 11th, Milwaukee news station TMJ4 ran a story title "Grass Roofs are Becoming Popular Energy Savers around Milwaukee."

Being the Change: Live Well and Spark a Climate Revolution
The demand for solutions to climate change is widespread and the need for action urgent. Often, these pressures can seem overwhelming. Peter Kalmus, climate scientist and father, responds to these pressures in a deeply personal way.
Complementing the book Being the Change: Live Well and Spark a Climate Revolution, this feature documentary film delves into his life, showing how a change in life philosophy and mind frame enabled him to cut his fossil fuel use to 1/10th of the average American. All while boosting his happiness and raising a family in a typical California suburb. Ideas for how to use this screeningUse the power of film to focus attention on the issue of climate change
Galvanize people into action on climate change
Follow the film with a panel discussion to brainstorm actions for you area.
