An overview of our organization

Waukesha County Green Team (WCGT) member, and active participant in the WCGT's Permaculture & Gardening Group, Mike Paik recently shared his insights about our organization with LEAVES, a newsletter of the International Environment Forum (Vol. 20, No. 1 - 15 January 2018 - www.iefworld.org).

Sustainability is more than a concept; it is a way of life for this Wisconsin group, the Waukesha County
Green Team. What an exciting journey it has been: In 2008 strangers and acquaintances worked together
for a common goal of societal change. Not wishing to lose their momentum, they came together again to
meet the challenge of the National Day of Service in January 2009. Other like-minded people were invited
to join the planning group to determine future direction and goals. After several months this group became
what would be known as the Waukesha County Green Team. They chose The Natural Step model of
sustainable community wide planning as their guide.

We're looking for site coordinators!

Cleanups are events led by volunteers and for volunteers. They help create healthy ecosystems for everyone, including the wildlife and communities that depend on them. Litter not only endangers our local wildlife, it pollutes our waterways and land and encourages crime.

A Waukesha Countwide Cleanup site coordinator is anyone who wants to organize a cleanup Earth Day weekend in Waukesha County (April 21-22). As a site coordinator registered with the Waukesha County Green Team, your cleanup will be listed on our website for publicity and registration and you can receive supplies and support for your cleanup event!
