Hello All,
*Exciting news! *
Phil Smith has signed on to join Bill Lizdas and I as Volunteer
Coordinators of Family Promise for LCUUC. Thanks Phil, we look forward to
working with you in a new capacity.
*Other Important Details:*
Our next host week is November 5 -12. I will send out the Sign Up Genius
around October 5th.
Recent guests Danielle and Simone and their families found housing and
moved out last Friday. I will find out if they have any specific needs
(furniture/clothing/food) as they set up their home and let you know.
The Day Center and the Family Promise Alumni Group have ongoing needs. The
Day Center information and a list of needs can be found at the website
listed below.

The Alumni Group meets monthly and is proving to be a great success. It
has been suggested that we periodically collect food to "stock their
shelves" after they move in to housing but are still waiting to get set up
with resources such as food pantries, food stamps, etc... They are
accepting nonperishable food items and household/hygiene supplies. If you
are interested in donating to this cause, I will have a clearly labeled bin
out during our upcoming host week.
*A Question for All: *
I cannot begin to tell all of you how much I appreciate all of your help
and support for Family Promise at LCUUC and in general. We have helped so
many families find their way to sustainable housing, continuing education
and employment.
For those of you who have completed the training but have not participated
during a host week, I would like to know honestly, what is keeping you from
signing up? I know for some, it is just a matter of inconvenient timing
with schedules or trips, etc...but is there something else that could be
addressed? This is not intended to guilt or pressure anyone. I would
simply like to know, if you want to volunteer, how can I make it more
comfortable for you to do so? Perhaps consider pairing up with one of our
"regular" volunteers for a shift if you feel a little intimidated? Should
we host a volunteer training/retraining session at LCUUC?
Please feel free to contact Phil, Bill or me with thoughts and suggestions.
Thanks,
gina 262-424-7640
