Donate online now or at walk
 Greater Milwaukee CROP Hunger Walk
this Sunday, Oct. 8, at lakefront
Free registration starts at noon; 2-mile lagoon walk at 1:30 p.m.

You can still donate to the Greater Milwaukee CROP Hunger Walk online and help fund hurricane relief while also benefitting two local food pantries. Go to: Milwaukee CROP Donation
You also can donate money, nonperishable food, and fresh produce at the walk itself this coming Sunday, October 8, at the McKinley Park shelter on the lakefront near 1750 N. Lincoln Memorial Dr. Registration for the walk is free and starts at noon. The 2-mile walk around the lagoon is at 1:30 p.m. The event is family friendly, with live music, kids activities, balloon animals, face painting, henna, and snacks.
Some new highlights:
Mariachi Juvenil, the flagship ensemble of the Latino-Arts Strings Program, performs before the walk. For every person who participates in our hunger walk, an anonymous benefactor will give $1 to support a 2018 tour by this award-winning youth group.
A short fun run for kids is at 12:45 p.m. on the grounds in front of the park shelter.
Two local food pantries and Interfaith will equally share 25% of monetary donations: Bay View Community Center Food Pantry, Central City Churches Outreach Ministry Food Pantry.
In addition to bringing a food donation for the Hunger Task Force, walkers can bring fresh garden or store-bought produce for Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee to distribute to food sites. Because our walk is during the Jewish festival of Sukkot, Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun is bringing a mobile Sukkah or festival shelter on a truck for walkers to experience.
Jahmes Tony Finlayson will do interactive drumming with kids/youths. There also will be a Kids Fun Run, a Sikh henna artist, balloon animals & hats, cookies, and snacks.
Funds go to Church World Service, which does relief and development work internationally and in the U.S., serving people of all faiths. Donations can be designated for other international relief agencies if made online.
Are CWS/CROP Hunger Walks working with and will they benefit Hurricane relief efforts in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. The answer is YES.
In addition to hunger and poverty fighting programs around the world, CWS responds to disasters in the U.S. like Hurricanes Irma, Harvey, and Maria. Your support of the CROP Hunger Walk forms the foundation of all CWS work and affords CWS the flexibility to respond as needed when disasters strike.
Right now, over 100,000 hygiene kits, clean up buckets and blankets are/have been given to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey and Irma. In addition in response to Maria, hygiene kits were sent to Puerto Rico to be shared through our partner the America Baptist Churches USA.
Your participation in the CROP Hunger Walk helps CWS:
•Provide blankets and Hygiene Kits to shelters
•Provide Emergency Cleanup Buckets and School Kits to families in need
•Coordinate assessments and emergency response needs with FEMA, the Red Cross, and other national, state and denominational emergency response groups.
•Provide technical training in disaster preparedness and long term recovery to state VOAD groups. (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters)
•Help organize faith groups for counseling support and assistance.
•Provide long-term recovery grants that aid beyond the immediate crisis.
