Here are some photos from Mike Fort's bird hike last Sunday.

Bird hikes every Sunday in May at Lapham Peak starting at 7:00 am.
I am starting to learn my sparrows.
. Song Sparrow: brown and white stripes on head with black spot on
chest
. White-capped Sparrow: black and white head with white stripe in
the middle
. Chipping Sparrow: rust colored cap (like Tree Sparrow), but with
black eye line
The photos are: Mike's list of 31 birds (plus I saw a turkey on the way out
of the park), song sparrow, white-capped sparrow, chipping sparrow, eastern
phoebe (back, front), tree swallow, downy woodpecker, wood duck and hooded
merganser, family of Canadian geese, brown headed cowbird, red-winged
blackbird (female), northern flicker (bottom, back), wild turkey.
Mike promises more warblers this coming week.

Karl Timm
