Subject: Make calls now
Every day through Monday, 3-13-17, please call your representatives in Washington, and contact your friends and ask them to do likewise. The reason: The government wants to severely cut the budgets of the EPA, and climate programs of NASA and NOAA. Say HANDS OFF the EPA! HANDS OFF NASA! HANDS OFF NOAA! These are critical programs, the pride and joy of climate science -- and the administration wants to substitute its pseudoscience, at best.
Our UU-UNO climate representative, Jan Dash, relayed on a conference call to Climate Action Teams last night that Congress will be discussing a long list of cuts on Monday, March 13. The cuts include 50% to 100% cuts in many programs. One that hits home, for example -- Great Lakes protection.
To quote our Fourth Principle, "A free and responsible search for truth and meaning" and our Sixth Source: "Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and science . . ." And of course, our Seventh Principle, "Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part."
Thanks for your help.
Terry
