The Wisconsin Joint Finance Committee has scrapped the Governor’sproposed transportation budget, and Representative Kooyenga of Brookfield is tasked with putting together the newtransportation budget. We want to let him, and Senator Vukmir from WaukeshaCounty, who is also on the Joint Finance Committee, know that people care aboutfunding for local roads, public transit, and senior and disabled transit.
This is an opportunity for them and our other elected representativeshear form people who couldn’t get to the official public budget hearings. This Waukesha County Transportation Coalition Town Hall will bring together public officials, agencyrepresentatives, business leaders, concerned citizens and most importantly, transit users. We need you there to share your expertise as we work to affectthe state transportation budget to best meets the needs of all the people of Waukesha County.
This conversation will help us clarify Waukesha County area transit needs, and identify opportunities to work together tobring more resources to our local community. We need you there to voice yourinsights and perspective.
The Transit Town Hall will include:
· A welcomestatement of who we are and why we’re here
· Our objectives, as stated on a petition which was signed byover 1500 people
· Stories from transit users
· Audience comments
· Response from political leaders
Please help us get the right people at the table byextending the invitation throughout your network, and especially byinviting individuals who rely on local transit.
Together, we can create change in Waukesha County that benefits everyone!
