A great company is doing another great thing. From its inception Patagonia strived to do the best right thing for its customers, employees, employees of its manufacturers, community and the earth. They have always donated 1% of sales. In light of recent events they felt they needed to do more. From the CEOs letter -
"We’re just days from Black Friday, one of the biggest consumer shopping days of the year in America. And as people think generously about family and friends, we also want to help our customers show love to the planet, which badly needs a gift or two (and still gets coal every year).
This year Patagonia will donate 100 percent of global Black Friday sales in our stores and on our website to grassroots organizations working in local communities to protect our air, water and soil for future generations. These are small groups, often underfunded and under the radar, who work on the front lines. The support we can give is more important now than ever."
100% of global store and website sales to be donated, probably their most prosperous 24 hours of the year. That's an action worth supporting (and sharing) I think. Anything you could buy from them on Friday rather than from the less worthy company you were going to shop?
If you're unfamiliar:
It's expensive stuff but among the best clothes made and lasts forever
All cotton is 100% organic
They will take worn fleece back and recycle it, if it's in such bad condition it can't be passed along
And, in my experience, their clothes run small

Feel free to forward. I posted on Facebook too if you'd like to help spread the word there.
Take care,
Liz
