Join UUCW members at these upcoming events that relate to Black Lives Matter issues. Any of these events will help you engage in experiences that will deepen your understanding of the issues affecting the black community in Milwaukee. Invite your friends.
1. I AM 53206 MARCH" -- Wednesday June 22 at 5pm, Calvary Baptist Church, 2959 W. Teutonia Ave. Milwaukee Silent march for equity and justice in Milwaukee organized by MICAH youth in the 53206 Holy Ground Project. As they call for system wide reform in Milwaukee, including the end of mass incarceration, poverty, joblessness, they are asking that the community join them. The march will start at Calvary Baptist and end at Incarnation Lutheran, roughly a 20 minute walk. Tom Moore of UUCW will be joining the march. 2. Milwaukee EXPO Community Forum -- Tuesday June 28th at Wisconsin Black Historical Society & Museum, 2620 W. Center St. Time 6-8 pm. EXPO is Ex-Prisoners Organizing group supported by WISDOM and the panel discussion will discuss the barriers faced by formerly incarcerated people. 3. A talk about A Time of Terror, the memoir by James Cameron, survivor of a lynching attempt and founder of America's Black Holocaust Museum, Monday, June 27th at 7pm, Boswell Books,2559 N. Downer, Milwaukee. Speakers Fran Kaplan and Dr. Robert Samuel Smith are co-editors and authors of the new introduction in the just released third edition of the book.
