Subject: Interfaith Service for Orlando, this Thursday in Milwaukee
Interfaith Prayer Service of Remembrance & Hope
Thursday, June 16, 7 p.m.
All Saints' Cathedral
818 E. Juneau Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53202
At 7 p.m. this Thursday, June 16, Milwaukee’s Episcopal cathedraland the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee will co-sponsor an interfaith prayer service of remembrance and hope in response to the tragic shooting in Orlando, FL. The service will be in All Saints’ Cathedral, 818 E. Juneau Ave., Milwaukee.
“This will be a time for the community to come together in a safe place to grieve for the deceased while sharing scripture, prayer, reflection, healing and fellowship,” said the Very Rev. Kevin Carroll, dean of the cathedral. People of all faiths and philosophies are welcome. Those offering Scriptural readings, prayers and reflections will include Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh representatives. During the service, the cathedral’s largest bell will be tolled once for each of the people who died in Sunday morning’s shooting at a gay night club in Orlando. The service will end on a note of hopefulness with a ringing of all of the cathedral’s bells. Since its founding in 1970, the Interfaith Conference has consistently denounced any form of ethnic, racial or religious violence while striving to counter hate and uphold the dignity of every person. The Conference represents the regional leaders and adherents of 17 member denominations and faiths. It also works closely with nonmember faiths. Thank you
