January 2016 If you no longer wish to receive emails from us,

David Tennyck will begin on January 20th. David has extensive non-profit management experience having served as Assistant Director, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director at Hope Street Ministry, in Milwaukee's inner city. He also served as Assistant Director and Executive Director at the Hope Center in Waukesha. Prior to non-profit work, Mr. Tennyck practiced law as a litigation attorney for nine years and worked in corporate sales for six years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from UW-Whitewater and his Doctorate Degree in Law from UW-Law School. David has two sons, Zachary and Daniel, and is married to Patti and they live in Pewaukee. He is also an avid guitar player, teaching lessons for many years and playing with numerous bands and church worship teams. David has been involved in many community volunteer opportunities (boards of directors, substance abuse counselor, Sunday school teacher, mentor for Prison Fellowship) making him very aware of the power of leveraging "volunteers" for programs such as Family Promise to solve community problems. The full Board was able to meet with Mr. Tennyck this past week and all are very excited to begin our work together. As David states, "It is very rewarding to help people get back on their feet and see lives being restored." Special thanks to the interviewing committee (Denney Zenge, Laura Seipel, Kristi Davis, Deborah Fisher and Ginny Brown) for all their hard work, time and efforts during the very busy month of December to help get the interview process completed in such a timely way. 2015 Capital Campaign Results and Donations:Who knew there could be more fantastic news for the New Year.... but there is. Thanks to the generosity of our anonymous donor providing a challenge of a $20.000 dollar match, we were able to raise over $63,000 total during the month of December!! This is such a blessing and statement of support from all of you individuals, churches, businesses, organizations, school groups and corporations. In addition to the cash contributions, we received many of the needed supplies and gift cards for the Day Center as well as wonderful gifts for our families during the holiday time. We were all kept very busy organizing the donations and distributing the items, but the spirit of giving and thankfulness was evident each day. We continue to be humbled by the generosity of so many and hope we can reflect the spirit of sharing and care in all that we do with the families we serve. And then there are our Host and Support Churches and Volunteers.....Did you know that after our first 14 months of operation we had: 12 Host churches, 10 Support churches, over 1600 volunteers, had 318 days of meals prepared and shelter provided to 57 individuals all for an in-kind value of $104,000? Wow, it was a great first year!THANK YOU ALL FOR A WONDERFUL FIRST YEAR. Welcome to St. James Church in Eagle and St. Theresa's in Mukwonogo for joining together as a new Host church and to Hope Church in Oconomowoc for becoming a new Support church. Day Center changes: We will be reorganizing the small room at the day center to create a space that can be used for meeting with guests privately and for infant nap time. We will also be trying to create more areas for guests to congregate as we anticipate efforts to reach our capacity goals. Board Activity:The Board of Directors, New Executive Director and a staff member from the National Family Promise office will be having a couple of days of strategic planning sessions at the end of February. We will keep you informed about plans as we move forward. We will also be highlighting Board members in the newsletters in the future so you can get to know them better. As you can see, great things are happening for Family Promise and we couldn't do it without all the community support. Thank you all for all you do for our wonderful families in need. A Community of GenerosityThe Create A Card group at Lake Terrace used their card sale proceeds to contribute to Family Promise of Western Waukesha County and the Lake Area Free Clinic. "We are proud to select these two worthy charities to contribute funds to," said organizer Marion Jaeger. Hundreds of the handmade cards are created and sold each year through the independent living residents' efforts.

THANK YOU to the students and faculty at Nature Hill Intermediate school who are involved in the Hands of Change Club.
