Hello fellow kooks,

In addition to the presidential primary this Tuesday, I'm sure you all know
the very important Supreme Court race will be decided in this election.
There are likely some other contests on your ballot. *To see your local
ballot*, go to https://myvote.wi.gov/ . Click on "Regular Voter", enter
your name and address, click on your name, and then click on "Whats on my
ballot" to see what is on the ballot for your area. A few quick on-line
searches should give you info about the candidates and help you be an
informed voter.

I just received training to be an Election Observer with the League of
Women Voters, and learned a few things about the new voting process that I
thought I'd share.

To *VOTE*, you must show Photo ID, but the address does not have to be
current. Poll workers are *not *allowed to check your address or signature
- they can ONLY check your name and photo. If a poll worker checks
addresses or signatures, they should be reported to the Chief Inspector of
the polling place. *Any questions or problems that you see or experience
at the polls can be reported to the Election Protection Hotline at
866-OUR-VOTE. *There may be some legal challenges to the new Voter ID law,
and all irregularities should be reported.

Student IDs need to be accompanied by Proof of Enrollment - again, this *can
*be shown on their smartphone.

There should be a clearly marked place to register to vote at the polling
place. To *REGISTER *to vote you need 2 things - you DO NOT need a photo
ID to register:

1 - Your WI Driver License. If you don't have it with you, but you have
one, you can call the DMV from the polling place and they can provide the
DL# to you. If you don't have a current Driver's License, you need to
provide the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.

2 - Proof of Residency. Can be shown on a smartphone - does not have to be
a paper copy. Can be many different forms - food stamps, BadgerCare
notices, SSI notices...

*Anyone who does not have proper ID should be given a provisional ballot
and has until Friday to go back with proper ID and have their vote
processed.*

If there is one thing we can do to affect change in our country it is TO
VOTE! Please share widely.

In solidarity,
Kerry
