TED Talks will be meeting this Friday, December 11 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Milwaukee Street Traders (523 Milwaukee St. in Delafield). At last months meeting we decided to focus on Economic Inequality for this month's TED Talk. Here's three talks we can choose from.
Dan Ariely: How equal do we want the world to be? You'd be surprised
"The news of society's growing inequality makes all of us uneasy. But why? Dan Ariely reveals some new, surprising research on what we think is fair, as far as how wealth is distributed over societies ... then shows how it stacks up to the real stats."

James B. Glattfelder: Who controls the world?
"James Glattfelder studies complexity: how an interconnected system - say, a swarm of birds - is more than the sum of its parts. And complexity theory, it turns out, can reveal a lot about how the economy works. Glattfelder shares a groundbreaking study of how control flows through the global economy, and how concentration of power in the hands of a shockingly small number leaves us all vulnerable."

Thomas Piketty: New thoughts on capital in the twenty-first century
"French economist Thomas Piketty caused a sensation in early 2014 with his book on a simple, brutal formula explaining economic inequality: r > g (meaning that return on capital is generally higher than economic growth). Here, he talks through the massive data set that led him to conclude: Economic inequality is not new, but it is getting worse,..."
