Hey this is Adia, just reaching out to see if anyone needs some yard work because I am looking for some yard work jobs. I?m 16 years old so I can drive and can do pretty much any work from weeding and mowing to specific projects you may need help on. I thought this would be a good way to spend my time as there seems to be a lot of it right now and a safe way to still earn some money. You can reach out to me by texting my phone at 262-369-8697. After someone from the city came out and checked the sewer lines in the street and confirmed the problem was not on their end, Harry called a few different plumbers, but the only one who got right back to us was Cory from Waterfoul Plumbing in Oconomowoc. Turns out he lives on the next street over. Thankfully he was able to snake the pipe and fix the problem, but he did have to run it all the way out through the back yard and then over to the street before he hit the clog. May have been a tree root. Was able to grind it. All the waste went back down the floor drains, so now we just have to finish cleaning and bleaching everything... but it could have been much worse! (Of course, probably a short-term fix, but that will have to do for now.) Cory came right over, was very no-nonsense, completed the work quickly, and was very reasonable. I would certainly recommend him for this type of issue. Not sure how he would be for anything more complicated. Thanks again! Sincerely, Elisabeth ? ________________________________ From: Lekooks on behalf of Harrahy, Elisabeth A via Lekooks Sent: Saturday, May 9, 2020 3:13 PM To: lekooks at lekook.org Subject: [Lekooks] Plumber (emergency)? Evers Announces $25 Million Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program Date: May 20, 2020 at 11:31:13 AM CDT To: ggoralme at gmail.com Reply-To: GovPress at evers.wi.gov FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 20, 2020 Contact: GovPress at wisconsin.gov or 608-219-7443 Gov. Evers Announces $25 Million Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program MADISON ? Gov. Tony Evers today announced the launch of a $25 million Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program for Wisconsinites who have experienced income loss as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Administered by the Department of Administration (DOA), the Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program will provide direct financial assistance for owed rent, security deposits, and wrap around services for program eligible individuals. The effort is funded by $25 million in federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act dollars. ?Wisconsinites have enough to worry about as we continue to battle the deadly COVID-19 virus. They should not also have to worry about losing the roofs over their head,? Gov. Evers said. ?The Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program will hopefully provide peace of mind to a lot of people, as well as a reminder to them that we are all in this together. They have not been forgotten.? Eligible applicants must be an adult Wisconsin resident with a household income at or below 80% of the county median income in the month of or prior to the application date. Once approved, eligible individuals may receive assistance of up to $3,000 in a combination of rental payments and/or security deposits. These payments will be paid directly to the landlord on behalf of the tenant. DOA will partner with Wisconsin Community Action Program Association member agencies to accept applications from interested individuals and distribute the rental assistance. ?Collaborations with ?boots-on-the-ground? partner organizations will be critical to ensuring eligible Wisconsin residents are aware of this new program and are able to receive rental assistance relief quickly,? said DOA Secretary Joel Brennan. More details about the Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program, including complete eligibility criteria, application documentation requirements, and the distribution process for the rental assistance, will be shared in the upcoming days. Initial details regarding the program are available here. ### Office of the Governor ? 115 East Capitol, Madison, WI 53702 Press Office: (608) 219-7443 ? You will see that we have been asked to donate personal hygiene products including: deodorant, lotion, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste and tooth brushes. With the church building not being open, collection does seem to be a bit of a logistical issue?! If need be, I can pick up donations or you can send them or drop them off as instructed in the text below. We are NOT limited to these items, feel free to donate gift cards, cash or other items as well. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT! Please let me know if anyone is interested in the golf outing or the "Night Without a Bed"event. FROM the Executive Director at Family Promise: *Rent Moratorium* The Wisconsin moratorium on paying rent/mortgage and utilities ends today- May 26. Due to the generosity of individuals, civic groups, foundations, and businesses Family Promise has funds that can assist families in need. In addition, Christina will work with each family to help them connect to other resources that can help them navigate this difficult time. Those who need assistance can find details on our webpage: www.familypromisewaukesha.org/prevention Please share this information with members of your community. Sometimes it can be difficult to ask for help so if you know of someone please encourage them to reach out. *First Congregational UCC Golf Outing August 10 * We are grateful to First Congregational United Church of Christ and their willingness to make Family Promise the beneficiary of their golf outing. It is their hope that to show support for Family Promise, this might be an event that each support and host congregation gets involved. Perhaps your faith community would sponsor a hole, send golfers, or have members who want to help plan the event. Right now we are seeking individuals to help with the following committees: ? *Publicity/Marketing * ? *Sponsorships:* Gathering course sponsorships using various media. A prepared letter is available to email along with the registration form. Jeff Thiel volunteered to chair. ? *Golf Course skills games:* Work along with the club pro to set up ? *Golf Course fun activity holes, educational holes * ? *Swag bags*: One per golfer, gather items and prepare bags ? *Raffle* ? *Silent Auction* ? *Volunteers for the day of the event* Any help you or anyone in your community can offer will benefit Family Promise of Waukesha County. *A Night Without a Bed * On *June 20, 2020*, Family Promise (national) is hosting a social media challenge to raise awareness for families experiencing homelessness. Family Promise of Waukesha County will be participating as well. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about families who are experiencing homelessness during the pandemic. In the past, many congregations have their youth groups participate in a tent or box city. Since the pandemic most of those have been canceled. We invite you ? your congregations to participate in a *Night Without a Bed. *To do so, you are invited to sleep anywhere without a bed on the night of June 20. Then share your experience using a video blog or photos with friends and family on social media. You can also challenge others to also complete the #NightWithoutABed If there is interest Christina and I are considering adding an educational component via zoom. Please let us know if you think members of your community would be interested in this. *Facebook and Google* Our goal is to get our Facebook followers up to 1000 people. We currently have 808. Would you consider inviting your volunteers, church members, friends, neighbors to follow Family Promise of Facebook? The more people who follow us the wider exposure we receive. Wider exposure means the ability to connect with those who need assistance and the opportunity to grow our resources to help those in need. *Supply Collection* Financial contributions are needed every week and always appreciated. Donations can be made online: www.familypromisewaukesha.org/donate or mailed to Family Promise of Waukesha County 543 AJ Allen Circle Suite D Wales, WI 53183 Since the Day Center is currently closed, we can set up a time for you to meet Natalie, Christina or Joe can set up a time for you to meet at the Day Center to drop off items. *May 25-30 St Therese, Eagle* Walmart Gift Cards and financial donations *May 31- June 6 Church of the Resurrection/LCUUC* Hygiene products (deodorant, lotion, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrush) *June 7-13 Oakwood/Grace/Acts 2* Baby Products (diapers, wipes, lotion, shampoo) *June 14-20 * *June 21- 27 Reformation/Highview* Grocery Store and Kwik Trip Gift Cards Thank you everyone!! gina magnus 262-424-7640 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... So I?d be willing to stop at church to pick up anyone else?s items that are boxed or bagged. If there is interest in this I will notify my scheduled time to lekooks for a drop off time set at Our church prior. I do not want to interact with folks.... I would load bags/boxes myself that have been brought There and then drive to deliver them. This church has been an important part of her formation, and we are grateful for your being a part of that... Dear Shelby-Lover, As you know, Shelby is about to graduate from high school without the usual pomp and circumstance, and?probably more disappointing to her?without a proper graduation party. (At least not until we can all be together physically again!) But we do want to recognize Shelby?s hard work and mark the special occasion, and that?s where you come in. Shelby is planning to attend the University of Minnesota at Duluth to study Environmental Science. She has always loved nature and is dedicated to creating a clean, livable planet for her generation and those beyond. So, to follow her lead, we?d love it if you would make some small lifestyle change that preserves our habitat in her honor and take a picture of yourself holding a sign that says something like: ?For Shelby, I?ll?.. And if you do, please send the picture to kimsuhr at mac.com with the subject line: Shelby Photo (Your Last Name). We?ll stitch them together into a slideshow that we?ll show her on graduation day. We?d be grateful if you could do this by June 3rd. Thanks so much for all you have been to Shelby. We really appreciate you! WOW wow wow wow wow Thank you Erich for changing the topic. This was something that my soul and heart needed. Thank you Alissa for articulating what I had heard from other friends on FB about what we can say. Every time I tried to join in the conversation I got cut off so I hope I can reach you here. I have a few questions for you and/or anyone on the committee 1.)What are some ways to respond to some people who continue to think that this rioting is just giving people of color a bad name..... I feel that when I hear this and other similar things said there are probably a few simple responses I can say without starting a confrontation or an argument...... I would prefer to engage in something active and helpful rather than to defend or start conversations with people who are focusing on the riots and not the cause behind or the justice system that cause this anger 2.) I totally appreciate Gerry's question and would love to know where I too can write letters.... And or what I can do from the sidelines.... I'm in a high-risk group so I'm not feeling safe even going to the grocery store let alone a large crowd I'm imagining these lists of people to write to already exist... rather than me spending hours trying to find the addresses and names of people if it's already out there I'd appreciate hearing about it..... 3.) if somebody wants to do a zoom book group on the "waking up white" I'd be interested Thank you so much for providing inspiration on this bright sunny morning Erin Johnston -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... What has happened in Minnesota and other places involving police officers is appalling. However, just as we can't group all the protesters and looters together, we can not group all police officers as a group of racist and violent individuals. I have a relative and know several police officers. These individuals are caring and open minded people who would not do these things and would not stand by and let them happen. Thanks Phil for mentioning about what we are willing (or not willing) to do to have the kind of police officers we want.? Like our schools, because our police and fire departments are paid for with taxes.? And most people don't like paying taxes.? My relative and his family realize that when he leaves for work, he may not come home.? Or may end up seriously injured.? How many of us deal with that thought each day we go to work.? Talk with police officers. Know what they are about, their constant fears. Police joining protests by taking a knee. Also a cop was separated from his squad during riot and protesters surrounded him to keep him safe and without harm. I hope a few of these images can be seen so that we do realize that not all police can be lumped into a category and that not all riot attendees condone violence. I?m sure African American officers are struggling morally and professionally during these times as to what they feel about their identities and professional oath to uphold the laws in our country.?We must ALL work together to bring change.?Chris Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone On Sunday, May 31, 2020, 12:39 PM, midwestal--- via Lekooks wrote: I was unable to join the conversation today, but want people to be careful about lumping any group together.?
