This program relies on organizations such as LCUUC to pick up trash along their assigned County Highways to make our roadways more attractive; and the organizations get publicity in the form of signs along the designated stretch of highway. Each participating organization commits to 3 cleanups per year. Our stretch of road is Highway E, from the intersection with K (northwest corner of LCUUC property) north to highway EF.? Please join in with our summer cleanup on Saturday August 4, from 10 until noon. Wear good walking shoes and gloves. We supply the bags, orange vests, and water. Meet at the front door at 10. Takes about 1-1/2 hours total, and is a nice sociable walk in addition to doing something to help our environment and publicize our church. Per Waukesha County rules, children participating must be at least 11 years old or in 6th grade. Dear James, September 8th is our big chance to pressure leaders from around the world to take real climate action. Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice will be a massive mobilization and we need your support to make the biggest impact possible. Only with enough pressure from people in the streets will our leaders commit to the action necessary to respond to the scale of the climate crisis. Watch why I believe this mobilization is so important, and join us in making this a groundbreaking moment for the climate movement: Yesterday marked one month until the day of action, and thousands of people stepped up and committed to taking action on September 8th. Momentum is growing and will continue to build. With your support, we?€™ll make sure this global day of action is a tipping point that delivers lasting change from the bottom up. Thank you so much for all that you do -- we couldn?€™t do it without you. Jamie P.S. Want to learn more about the Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice actions being planned? The Family Promise Case Manager and Executive Director called today to ask if we would be willing to host the families again on such very short notice. I know that this was not an easy call for them to make as we are just heading into our host week this Sunday! It seems that the options are few and the idea of asking the families to move back into their cars for a week was unbearable. So, we said.......SURE! Again for the sake of efficiency, I will give you bullet points: * LCUUC will host the families from *Sunday September 2 - Saturday September 8 * (there is a building conflict and the families will leave us a day early) * We understand that this is a tremendous strain on our volunteer force so we have asked the administration to open up our Sign Up Genius to ALL trained volunteers from ALL churches and organizations * You will receive an invitation to a Sign Up Genius later this evening, it will go out to the entire volunteer force tomorrow morning * Any help that you can give will be gratefully accepted Thank you, gina -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The health and safety of our communities and the environment are under threat. Trump has nominated an extremist judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, who if confirmed, would prioritize corporate polluters over our families' health for decades. Plus, record-breaking wildfires are raging across California right now following a year of other devastating extreme weather -- all made worse by climate change. Here's the description of the movie copied from the theater website. The trailer is pretty revealing. Director: Dinesh D'Souza, Bruce Schooley Starring: Dinesh D'Souza Synopsis: Not since 1860 have the Democrats so fanatically refused to accept the result of a free election. That year, their target was Lincoln. They smeared him. They went to war to defeat him. In the end, they assassinated him. Now the target of the Democrats is President Trump and his supporters. The Left calls them racists, white supremacists and fascists. These charges are used to justify driving Trump from office and discrediting the right "by any means necessary." But which is the party of the slave plantation? Which is the party that invented white supremacy? Which is the party that praised fascist dictators and shaped their genocidal policies and was in turn praised by them? Moreover, which is the party of racism today? Is fascism now institutionally embodied on the right or on the left?Through stunning historical recreations and a searching examination of fascism and white supremacy, Death of a Nation cuts through progressive big lies to expose hidden history and explosive truths.Lincoln united his party and saved America from the Democrats for the first time. Can Trump and we come together and save America for the second time. Fran Bills -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Please volunteer if you can to do this, requires wire-brushing then washing them off to remove peeling stain and bird-poop, then applying 1 coat of stain after they have dried. There is 1/2 gallon of the stain in the utility room, labeled "fire pit benches" (or something like that). Please contact me for more information, but note that we will be away after August 30 but you don't need me here to do it.
