<div dir="ltr">Well it's been a quiet week here in Lake Wobegon. <div><br></div><div>There were a few speeches made by high profile politicians including the President. We saw a protest march in Washington DC turn into a forced entry of the nation's Capital. Congress happened to be counting the Electoral College votes for president at the moment the crowd broke through the police lines. The building was locked down. Congress including the Vice President had to be evacuated to safe spaces. The Senate chamber was breached. Guns were drawn. Eventually the National Guard was called in. The crowd brought with them guns, pipe bombs, swords spears and a symbolic gallows. By the time they were kicked out the building was vandalized, a number offices broken into,.There were some minor mostly symbolic thefts. A lot of selfies were taken, some with police or elected officials posing with those who broke in. </div><div><br></div><div>Five people have died so far from the injuries they sustained including one police officer. The majority of the crowd either left to go home or went back to their area hotels. A few of those who broke in have been arrested. The vice president isn't speaking to the President or the speaker of the house right now. The President has had his Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts locked. The online forum Parlor has been taken down. Several of the President's cabinet members have resigned. The head of the Capital's security has resigned. </div><div><br></div><div>
By all counts the country still has several weeks to go before the swearing in of the new President. A lot can happen in two weeks.
Some folks are calling for the involkation of the 25th amendment or the impeachment of the President whichever can be done the quickest. Others are announcing big rallys and more protests particularly on Jan 20th, the day of the inauguration. </div><div><br></div><div>We truly live in interesting times, in historic times. Nothing close to this level of political upset and open public hostility has happened in our lifetimes. </div><div><br></div><div>Come join the sangha in an open forum discussion of the past week's events.
