<font size=3>I just learned this year that several of my trees are
affected and dying. Didn't realize until one day when I found literally
hundreds of large pieces of bark on the ground under one of the trees,
and a knowledgeable friend took a look and gave me the bad news. The only
good part is that the worst of the trees attracted a Pileated Woodpecker,
only the third I've ever seen (one in Door Co. and one in the Carolinas).
BIG woodpecker!<br>
Since I have never brought in any firewood, I guess they flew in?
Assuming they do fly, then I would think humans may be able to slow their
spread, but not stop them.<br>
Sad for the trees. :-(<br>

George probably knows more on this ( please chime in) but I did a quick
check on Wisconsin regulations on wood with the ash borer and we cannot
move such wood out of the quarantined area of the southern half of
Wisconsin. The Wi website recommends leaving the wood near where it was
cut for 2 years, after which all the ash borers will have left the
wood.<br>

<br>
The large ash tree which is infected by the Emerald Ash Borer will be
taken down Friday, so <b>the south parking lot will be closed Friday and
Saturday. Do not use the south parking lot entrance; use the east
entrance and parking lot instead.<br>
</b><br>
Should be all cleaned up by Saturday evening.<br><br>
We will be cutting up the tree for firewood, so please take wood as you
wish Sunday or later, and give a donation to LCUUC.<br><br>
