The cable that ran from the house to the end of yard was heavy to put up, you need someone strong to help. Then use one of these (the right size for the cable diameter being used) at either end and you can tighten it once or twice a year as they stretch the cable. I have a doggie who wants to run with the deer. She has dug under the dog yard fence on several occasions, as well as climbing over (saw it with my own eyes!) a few times. The fence has been reinforced every time, and raised by 2 feet where she actually jumped over. The only thing keeping her in now is a shock collar with the underground wire woven through the actual fencing. Even with that, she got out again last week and stayed out all night. I swear she has a death wish (cars or coyotes)!
So, long story short, I continue to need more fence posts, but have also used metal pipes, wooden mop handles, and pieces of rebar (2 feet to 6 feet in length). Also taking odds and ends of wire fencing and pieces of wire to tie things together. It's a messy patchwork of a dog yard, but it mostly works.
Please check your garages and basements for things I can use to keep this crazy girl at home where she belongs!
Thank you,
