many of you are here looking for news of director Bob Simiele, who died
recently. An obituary and more information follows, but <span id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8069"><font id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8070">there will be a
service this Saturday, Feb. 4, 2 p.m., at Bethany Calvary United
Methodist Church, 7265 W. Center Street, Milwaukee WI.</font></span> Another celebration of his
life, with music, will follow in May.</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8071"><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8072"><br id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8073"></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8074">Robert M. Simiele, age 71,
born September 11, 1945, in Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully
Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at the Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa,
WI.</div></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8075"><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8076"><br id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8077"> </div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8078">Survived by brothers Patrick (Rosemary) and Richard (Angela)
of Syracuse; Michael (Colleen) of Cresco, IA; daughter Martina Simiele
(Nick Lingg) and grandson Dominic Lingg of Raleigh, NC; nieces, nephews,
former wife Brenda, and many, many friends and former students.</div></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8079"> Preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Grace, sister Marie, brother Anthony Jr, and wife Gloria Hestekin.</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8080"><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8081"><br id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8082">
</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8083">Bob held a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Northeast
Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville,
MO, and a Master of Arts degree in Music Composition. He moved to
Milwaukee, WI, in 1969 and made a career in teaching as the music
director at Boy’s Tech/Milwaukee Tech High School, where he worked from
1969 through his retirement in 2000. It was there that he imparted his
passion for music and the arts to a generation of students—his “kids.”</div></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8084"><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8085"><br id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8086">
</div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8087">Bob was also involved with the Unitarian Universalist Church for many
years, and he served as the president of the UU Musicians Network. In
2003 he founded Choral Tapestry “A Community Chorus,” where he continued
to bring the joy of music to the public. A highly talented composer
and percussionist, Bob worked tirelessly at the craft he so dearly
loved.</div></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8088"><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8089"><br id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8090"> </div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8091">In addition to his musical pursuits, Bob also used
photography to enrich other’s lives. He spent years taking photographs
and producing musical photographic essays for many organizations. He
displayed and sold his works at shows and venues around Wisconsin
including Gallery Night and Day, The Italian Community Center, and Festa
Italiana. His works were published in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel,
Wisconsin Trails, and other publications.</div></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8092"><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8093"><br id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8094"> </div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8095">Sincere thanks to all
who helped take care of Bob over the last couple of years, including the
staffs at Independence First, Froedtert Memorial Hospital, Virginia
Highlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Germantown, Aurora VNA
Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, and the many friends, colleagues,
and chorus members who gave so much of themselves in support of Bob.</div></div><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8096"><div id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8097"><br id="yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1486039639682_8098">

p.m., at Bethany Calvary United Methodist Church, 7265 W Center St,
